Orthobiologics

Non-surgical treatments that use your body’s natural biology to support healing, reduce pain, and improve function.

Performed by Dr. Jared Greenberg at NeuroSpine Center of Wisconsin, specializing in advanced orthobiologic therapies for joint, spine, and musculoskeletal conditions.

What Are Orthobiologics?

Orthobiologics use natural substances found in the body to support healing in joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other musculoskeletal tissues.

During an office-based procedure, your provider collects and processes blood or tissue, then injects the prepared orthobiologic into the affected area to help reduce pain, support repair, and improve function.

These treatments are commonly used for conditions such as joint pain, arthritis, and certain spine-related disorders.

At NeuroSpine Center of Wisconsin, Dr. Jared Greenberg offers advanced orthobiologic treatment options as part of a personalized, non-surgical approach focused on identifying and treating the source of pain.

Benefits of Orthobiologic Treatment

Orthobiologic treatments may offer several advantages for patients seeking non-surgical options for pain relief and tissue support.

Accelerated Healing

Supports the body’s natural repair process in injured or irritated tissue.

Reduced Pain

May help reduce discomfort associated with arthritis, tissue injury, and chronic irritation.

Minimally Invasive

Uses image-guided, non-surgical injections with little downtime for most patients.

Improved Function

Supports improved mobility, joint performance, and overall musculoskeletal health.

Reduced Inflammation

Targets sources of irritation that may contribute to ongoing pain and tissue stress.

Personalized Care

Treatment recommendations are tailored to your condition, symptoms, and individual goals.

Orthobiologic Treatments Available

Dr. Jared Greenberg performs several orthobiologic procedures at NeuroSpine Center of Wisconsin, with treatment recommendations based on the specific condition, symptoms, and goals of care.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP uses a concentrated portion of the patient’s own blood containing platelets and growth factors involved in tissue repair. When injected into damaged tissue, PRP may help support healing, reduce pain, and improve function.

Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M)

A2M is a naturally occurring protein found in blood that may help block enzymes involved in cartilage breakdown. It is often used as part of an orthobiologic approach for arthritis and joint-related conditions.

Lipogems®

Lipogems® uses adipose (fat) tissue collected through a minimally invasive technique and processed into an injectable tissue product. It is designed to cushion and support areas affected by arthritis or orthopedic injury.

Regenokine® Program

An important component of the Regenokine® Program is injection therapy using autologous conditioned serum (ACS). A patient’s blood is processed to isolate proteins, growth factors, and cytokines with anti-inflammatory and restorative properties, then re-injected into areas of concern, including joints, the spine, tendons, or muscles.

When Might Orthobiologics Be Recommended?

Orthobiologics may be considered for a range of musculoskeletal conditions affecting joints, soft tissue, and the spine.

  • Arthritis in the knee, hip, shoulder, and other joints
  • Herniated discs and degenerative disc disease
  • Sciatica or radiculopathy
  • Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction
  • Tendonitis or bursitis
  • Meniscus or labral tears
  • Muscle or tendon strains
  • Ligament sprains

What Does the Treatment Process Involve?

Orthobiologic treatment begins with a consultation with Dr. Greenberg to review your symptoms, medical history, imaging, and prior treatments. From there, a personalized treatment plan is developed based on your condition and goals.

Preparation varies depending on the treatment and may include blood draw and processing (same day for PRP or A2M; at least 24 hours prior for the Regenokine® Program), or tissue harvest and processing for Lipogems®.

The orthobiologic is then delivered using image guidance into the affected area, followed by recovery recommendations and appropriate follow-up to monitor progress.
